Clifford, personaje y ambiente!

Esta semana aprendimos acerca de personaje y escenario (ambiente). Así que tuvimos un invitado muy especial que nos ayudo a entender mejor aun este concepto... Clifford! Toda la semana estuvimos leyendo cuentos del Gran Perro Colorado Clifford y mis estudiantes quedaron maravillados a la misma vez que aprendieron muchísimo acerca de lo que es un personaje y su ambiente.

Aquí les muestro algunos de los trabajos que hicimos:

Al final de la semana ya mis estudiantes sabían  tanto de Clifford que pudieron escribir el orden de suceso de la historia sin problemas. :)

Para el cierre de unidad hicimos unos lindos collares de Clifford. Usamos galletitas para perritos y las decoramos con orejas y ojitos.

Cute Pencils

I posted the cute pencils I made for my bulletin board, and several of you wanted to know how to make it, so here it goes!

Materials:

Yellow Construction Paper

Pink Construction Paper

Foil Paper

Manila Paper

Toilet Paper Rolls

Glue

Template

Instructions:

1. Color the manila paper as the pencil tip.

 2. Paste it on the top of the toilet paper roll.

 3. Cut the edge of the yellow paper, using craft scissor to make the look of a sharpened pecil.

4. Paste the yellow paper around the roll. 

 5.Paste the pink construction paper over the yellow paper. The pink paper will be your eraser.

 

6.Finally you are going to paste the foil paper between the pink and yellow construction paper.

 And there you have your pencil! Easy to make and very cute to decorate your classroom!

Fun First Week!

I survived my first week of school in 1st grade!!! I ended up super exhausted, but it was worth it! We had a great week! Here are some pictures of some of the activites we did!

 We discussed bus rules and good behavior and created this cute school bus to write the rules inside of it! 

We completed our student-generated alphabet, and I was impressed how good it turned out!

I LOVE my bulletin board. I made a cute pencil for each of my students to display their work. They loved it and the bulletin looks great with their first writing activity about "La Srta. Nelson ha desaparecido".

 I really enjoyed my week, but I am thankful of the long weekend and my wonderful husband! He planned a fun family Sunday and we had a great day! Now I am ready for another fun week on Tuesday!

A very successful first day of school!

My first day was great!!! I am teaching 1st grade for the first time, and I have a feeling that I am going to love it!

I welcomed my students with a goodie bag and a beautiful message.

 I love this message so much, that I framed it and hanged it on the classroom wall! 

We did one of my favorite activities. It was about feelings. The students needed to describe how they felt on their first day of school. It was perfect for our book "El regreso de la maestra del pantano negro"

I could not go home without decorating my bulletin boarding! So, here is a picture of how it looks right now!

Making progress!

Last week I was super busy getting my classrooms ready and helping my hubby too with his classroom. My husband teaches high school, so we have different perspectives on how to decorate a classroom!! LOL!

I want to share my hubby's classroom before and after.

OK back to my classroom progress. I have my word walls set.

I LOVE my library this year!! It looks so welcoming that I wish I could stay there the whole day!

My school theme this year is "Learning is sweet" so I got inspire and decorated my door with sweet lollipops!

I am still working with some labels and Spanish phrases, but I am almost done.

I will officially start Staff Development tomorrow, so I will try to find the time between meetings to start planning my lessons!
