About me

Hola! My name is Mynda Rivera. I just completed my 10th year of teaching. In my first five years, I taught Pre-Kindergarten in a One-Way Dual Language classroom. For the next three years, I taught Two-Ways Dual Language 2nd grade. Last year I taught Two-Ways Dual Language 1st grade. Currently I am teaching Kindergarten.

I love teaching Dual Language. I have the opportunity to teach my students in their native language and help them learn a second one. I teach Spanish Language Arts, Science and Social Studies in Spanish & Math in English.

I love to create fun and engaging lessons! I always try to add a hands-on or "craftivity" in all of my lessons. I believe that if you let your students create their own product, they will make real life connections and put in practice what they have learned.

I am also a mom and wife. I am married to a wonderful man who also teaches. We have two beautiful children-- a 6-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl. I am a happy mom, wife, friend and teacher.

I hope you can find ideas and good resources on this blog! Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you come visit again!

Mynda

  8. ¡¡¡Hola!!! Me gustan mucho tus productos. ¡Gracias!

  9. Hi Mynda,
I've just come across your blog and thought I'd reach out.
My name is Camille and together with some friends we run VocApp - a flashcard app for learning languages. I was wondering if you'd be interested in writing about VocApp or posting a link to our website on your blog? The app offers the possibility of creating flashcards in a variety of languages for free. We also have some paid English-Spanish courses, which we'd be willing to share with you and your students for free. Here's a sample set of flashcards I've made for you: https://vocapp.com/on-the-road-en-esp-flashcards-201209
Looking forward to hearing from you!

  12. Hi, Mynda! My name is Carina. I found your blog while searching for some bilingual teaching enthusiasts. I absolutely love what you're doing as a dual-language teacher and wanted to quickly let you know about some products that may be useful in your classroom. If you go to https://multimammoth.com/ you will find some products that are specifically designed for children growing up in a bilingual home or currently attempting to learn a new language through school. The products are bilingual at the core, making it easy, but fun for the children and parents/teachers. Growing up I wish I had the education to learn a new language and so I hope parents and teachers like you keep doing what you're doing and hopefully find the tools at MultiMammoth helpful! I look forward to hearing from you if you find you have any questions.
